Growth Where You Least Expect It

I’m sore today. Crazy sore. And the wild part? It’s not because I accidentally did a workout that was too intense. It’s because I intentionally chose one I thought I understood.

-Previewed the routine

-Mentally rehearsed it

-Picked the weights

-Thought, “This’ll be great for my arms!"

To those of you already chuckling—you saw it coming, didn’t you? Kettlebells are sneaky. Halfway through the first circuit, I realized:Despite my best planning, I’d completely missed what muscles would actually be doing the work.

*My core? On fire.

*Glutes? Activated.

*Balance? Tested

.And I thought this was just an arm day!

It reminded me of something we see all the time in therapy at Ever Human Therapy.

People often come to therapy thinking they’re here to work on one thing—grief, anxiety, a tough relationship, burnout… whatever feels most urgent. But as the process unfolds, something powerful happens:

Growth spreads.

Patterns reveal themselves.

Insights surface in unexpected places.

And parts of the self that have been quiet begin to speak up.

Just like that workout, therapy engages muscles of the mind and heart that you didn’t even know needed strengthening.

So yes, I’m sore. But I’m also stronger. And in both therapy and fitness, that’s often how you know it’s working.
