This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week — a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting mothers’ emotional and mental wellbeing during pregnancy and postpartum.
Up to 1 in 5 women experience maternal mental health conditions like postpartum depression or anxiety. Yet far too many of these struggles remain hidden — unspoken, undiagnosed, and untreated — due to stigma, lack of awareness, and barriers to care.
Awareness is the first step toward change. When we speak openly about maternal mental health, we:
Break down harmful stigmas that keep parents silent
Normalize seeking support as a vital part of parenting
Advocate for healthcare systems that recognize and address perinatal mental health needs
This week, let’s:
Amplify the voices of mothers Advocate for accessible, culturally responsive perinatal mental health care Remind every struggling parent: you are not alone, and help is available.
When we support mothers, we support entire families. Healthy moms build healthy homes, strong communities, and brighter futures. Let’s stand with them — this week and every week.
